What is microneedling?

Microneedling is a skin needling treatment that uses small sterilised needles to prick the skin to generate new skin cells.

It can be used for a variety of skin concerns, such as: lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, sun damage, pigmentation, acne, acne scars and stretch marks.

A course of microneedling treatments is often recommended by our experienced clinicians. This will restore your complexion and give you a clear and bright appearance that is more even in texture and tone.

Microneedling FAQs

Microneedling is safe and effective for patients with all skin types. Depending on patient needs, you may be recommended to use microneedling to improve the surface and deeper condition of the skin before other treatments. Microneedling can cause bleeding so it may not be suitable for people with clotting or bleeding disorders, or who take medicine to thin their blood. It is best to check with your doctor for advice if you are on such medication.
Microneedling procedures aren’t painful because a numbing cream is applied before treatment. Microneedling uses tiny needlepoints to create punctures within the skin to encourage the body’s collagen and elastin production, leading to younger and smoother-looking skin.
There are a few temporary side effects to be aware of with microneedling. The procedure causes bleeding, short-term swelling, redness, itching and skin peeling, which will go away after a few days on its own.
