What are fixed braces?

Fixed braces, also known as traditional braces, consist of square brackets that are attached to the teeth and connected by wires and bands.

Fixed braces, also known as traditional braces, consist of metal brackets that are attached to the teeth and connected by wires and bands. The wires are gradually tightened over time, applying gentle pressure to the teeth and moving them into the desired position.

The length of treatment with fixed braces varies but is typically around 18 to 24 months. No matter what your age (treatment is suitable for both teenagers and adults) or dental situation (we can treat simple to complex cases) why not let us help you transform your smile, and your confidence, with fixed braces here at The Dental Parlour in Coventry

Fixed Braces
FAQs

It is completely normal to experience soreness or discomfort when you first have them fitted, or when you have the brackets and wires tightened. Most pain or discomfort is caused by the pressure needed to create sufficient tooth movement for the braces to do their work. You may experience ulcers as your mouth adjusts to the braces in the first few weeks of starting treatment
You will have to avoid hard and sticky foods as these will damage your brace and can also increase the risk of tooth decay.
Your dentist will provide you with oral hygiene advice when you have your brace fitted and will recommend regular dental hygiene visits to keep your teeth and gums healthy during your treatment. This will also ensure the best movements for your teeth straightening.
