What treatments are available?

  • Scale and polish
  • Air polish stain removal
  • Periodontal treatment for gum disease
  • Airflow GBT

What is Air Polish?

Air Polish is like jet washing for your teeth and removes the heaviest stains very quickly. Air Polish may be carried out during your dental hygiene appointment as a separate treatment.

What is Periodontal treatment?

If you have gum disease, you may need to have a periodontal assessment carried out. This involves taking measurement of the attachment of the gum around the tooth. Following on from this, extensive deep cleaning under the gums will be carried out, under local anaesthetic if necessary. This may be completed by splitting the mouth into sections and carried out over a number of visits.

In cases of gum disease, you may be required to see a hygienist every three months.

What is Air Flow GBT?

Guided biofilm therapy (GBT) is a new approach for dental plaque management using less abrasive and sensitive instruments. Warm water and a bacteria killing powder (Erythritol) is used to remove the layer of bacteria on the teeth, tongue and gums as well as stubborn stains, resulting in cleaner and smoother feeling teeth.
